About our jam
What makes Jamatelier jam different?
Jamatelier jams are inspired by traditional French confiture methods. Fruit is macerated overnight before being slowly cooked in copper pans for clarity of flavour and a softly set finish.
Are your jams handmade?
Yes. Every batch is handmade in Wiltshire using seasonal fruit and small-batch production methods.
Why is your jam softly set?
Our jams are intentionally softly set to preserve the texture and flavour of the fruit rather than creating a firm commercial-style gel. We only use natural pectin which produces a softer set.
Do you use pectin?
We do not use commercial pectin. The jams rely on the fruit’s natural pectin, lemon juice, and careful reduction during cooking. This naturally creates a softer set.
What ingredients do you use?
We use seasonal fruit, sugar, lemon juice, and carefully selected flavour pairings depending on the variety.
Where are your jams made?
All Jamatelier jams are handmade in Wiltshire, England.
Seasonal Production
Why do some flavours sell out?
We produce in small seasonal batches rather than mass manufacturing. Once a batch has sold through, it may not return until the following season.
Do you only use seasonal fruit?
Yes. Seasonality sits at the heart of Jamatelier, which means flavours naturally change throughout the year.
Will sold out flavours return?
Many of our favourites return seasonally, depending on harvest timing and fruit availability. It's a case of waiting until next year!
Are your jams made in small batches?
Yes. Small-batch production allows us to cook more gently and maintain the clarity and character of the fruit.
The Slow Jam Method
What is the Slow Jam method?
The Slow Jam method is Jamatelier’s approach to jam-making: overnight maceration, gentle cooking, small-batch production, and a fruit-first philosophy inspired by traditional French confiture.
Why do you use copper pans?
Copper pans are traditionally used in French jam making and allow for fast evaporation and gentle cooking, helping preserve brightness, flavour, and clarity.
Why do you macerate the fruit overnight?
Maceration draws out the fruit’s juices before cooking, creating deeper flavour and a more balanced texture.
Why is your jam less sugary than some preserves?
Our focus is on fruit-first flavour rather than overly sweet preserves, allowing the natural character of the fruit to come through.
Storage & Shelf Life
How should I store my jam?
Store unopened jars in a cool, dry place and last for 12 months. Once opened, refrigerate and enjoy within 4 weeks.
How long does the jam last unopened?
Each jar includes a best before date (if unopened their shelf life is 12 months).
Are your jars recyclable?
Yes. Both the glass jars and metal lids are recyclable.
